There are three main steps involved in a professional installation:
Step 1:
Your public utility company will come and mark the underground utilities in your yard so we can avoid them. (You do not need to be home for this.)
Step 2:
A Lumos team will bring a feeder line from the main line at the street to the side of your house (this could be aerial, in which case the next would not apply), then bury the line and ensure your yard is left the way it was found. (You don’t need to be home for this step either.) Please note– it may take 2-3 weeks to complete the burial of this line – timing is driven by weather and the location of utility lines in your yard.
Step 3:
The last and best step is the installation of Lumos services within your home. Someone 18 years of age or older and able to make service positioning decisions must be at home during this step. Our installation technician will run the fiber from the box on the outside of your house into your home and will install and connect your equipment. Before we leave, we will verify that all services are working, and your speeds are correct. This step usually takes between one and three hours for standard installations.
