Changing your Billing Preferences in My Account NC

You can easily change your billing preferences at any time.  Simply log in to My Account and follow the steps below to manage your payment methods.

Changing Your Payment Method for One Time Payments

  1. Go to Account Login and log into My Account by entering your zip code and then your username and password. (If you do not yet have an account, select “Register an account” and go through the steps to create an account login.)
  2. Once in My Account, there are two ways to reach the “Make a Payment” page:
    • Option 1 – From the My Account Homepage, select “Pay Now.”
    • Option 2 – From the Account Profile page, select “Pay My Bill.”
  3. From the “Make a Payment” page, select a payment amount – either “Total Due” or you may enter “Other Amount.”
  4. Choose your payment method. You can choose “Bank Account” or “Credit Card.” To avoid a credit card convenience fee, choose “Bank Account.”
  5. Enter the requested payment information and select “Pay Now.”
  6. Once you have read the Lumos Terms & Conditions, check the box “I have read and agree to the Lumos Terms & Conditions.”
  7. Click “Review Payment.”
  8. Once you have confirmed the information is accurate, click “Submit Payment.”

Setting Up or Changing Your Payment Method for Recurring Payments

  1. Go to Account Login and log into My Account by entering your zip code and then your username and password. (If you do not yet have an account, select “Register an account” and go through the steps to create an account login.)
  2. From the My Account home page, you can set up or change recurring payment methods by following one of the options below:
    • Option 1 – Scroll down to the blue box on the right-hand side of the page labeled “Set and Forget Your Monthly Bill.” Click “Set Up Bank Draft.”
    • Option 2 – From the My Account Homepage, click the “Account” drop down in the top navigation, select “Billing Preferences” and “Set up Automatic Payments.”
  3. From the “Schedule Recurring Payments” page, select “Credit Card” or “Bank Draft.” To avoid a credit card convenience fee, choose “Bank Draft.”
  4. If selecting Bank Draft, follow the steps below:

    1. Enter your bank details. Please note, Savings accounts will not work in our payment system and will come back as return payment.
    2. Select a Starting Date: A calendar view will pop up with dates to choose from.
    3. Check the box to authorize Lumos to automatically initiate charges.
    4. Once you have read the Lumos Terms & Conditions, check the box “I have read and agree to the Lumos Terms & Conditions.”
    5. Click the “Save” button.
    6. If you want to change the recurring payment method, you may do so at anytime in the “Manage Automatic Payments” section of your account.

    If selecting Credit Card for recurring payment, follow the steps below:

    1. Select the “Credit Card” tab and “Add New Payment Method.” The “Set up your payment method” window will appear.
    2. Enter the payment information as shown.
    3. Check the box to authorize Lumos to automatically initiate charges and click “Save.” Once the payment method is saved, you can select this method for recurring payment.
    4. Select a Starting Date: A calendar view will pop up with dates to choose from.
    5. Once you have read the Lumos Terms & Conditions, check the box “I have read and agree to the Lumos Terms & Conditions.”
    6. Click the “Save” button.
    7. If you want to change or disable the recurring payment method, you may do so at anytime in the “Manage Automatic Payments” section of your account.

Each time you pay your bill using a credit card, you will be charged a $4.00 processing fee.

The credit card processing fee was implemented to offset rising fees so that we can continue to offer our customers the convenience of paying with a credit card, and to encourage alternate forms of payment, such as debit or bank draft.

To avoid the processing fee, you can pay your bill using another payment method – bank draft or debit.  If you are enrolled in recurring auto payments, be sure to check that your payment method is set to bank or debit card to avoid the fee.
