Here’s what to expect during fiber network construction.
As we expand our fiber network, you may see crews in the area, notice utility flags or markings, and observe restoration efforts in progress. While we know construction can be disruptive, rest assured that we’ll restore the area and be out of your way as soon as possible.

Our team locates the necessary utility poles, identifies easement locations and requests permission to access each area.
Step 3:
Building the network
This is when construction begins. This can be a multi-phase process, so you may see one crew tasked with burying conduit while another installs fiber optic cabling. To prevent damage, we’ll ensure utility lines are marked. We will work in easements and may have to dig trenches, construct attachments on utility poles and install enclosures on sidewalks. Timelines vary depending on the build area size and weather conditions.

Fiber Construction FAQs
To avoid other utilities, our construction crews drill approximately 36 inches below the surface using a surface-launched drilling rig. This method is trenchless and has minimal impact.
Our team selects the least intrusive intersecting point for pedestal locations.
The short answer is that your area doesn’t currently have the infrastructure available. Luckily, fiber internet networks are growing, and you may have access soon. Building a fiber network is a big investment and takes time, so many providers prioritize urban areas first.
To protect against damage during our construction process, utility companies will come by and mark where any public utility lines currently exist in the right-of-way through your yard. Rest assured, our construction crews will remove the flags once the network is complete.
Our construction team is permitted to access designated utility easements or the right-of-way (ROW). The ROW is usually a strip of land running along the street, sidewalk, a rear lot line, or between two lots. While most homeowners maintain these ROW areas themselves, the City or Department of Transportation has access to a portion of your property and can grant us access to it as well.
Of course! Please have no worries there. Once our construction team has completed the work, we will restore your lawn as quickly as weather permits.
