High Point, NC (March 19, 2020)—NorthState has joined other communications carriers across America to assist those adversely impacted by coronavirus (COVID-19) by maintaining connectivity and waiving late fees. The move is part of the FCC chairman Ajit Pai’s call for a “Keep Americans Connected Pledge” to ensure connectivity for as many Americans as possible.
Under the program, NorthState will not terminate service to residential or small business customers if they are unable to make regular payments due to the negative impact of COVID-19. In addition, NorthState is waiving late fees that are incurred from financial hardship related to COVID-19.
“We join our fellow carriers in the pledge to alleviate potential service disruptions to our customers who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic,” NorthState President and Chief Executive Officer Royster Tucker III said. “Internet and phone connectivity are of critical importance because of the large number of people who are working or studying at home or are entertaining themselves at home as part of the effort to contain the spread of the virus through social distancing.”
“NorthState is committed to doing our part to help by keeping our customers connected during these unsettling times,” Tucker added. “In addition to focusing on the well-being of our customers, we are asking as many NorthState employees as possible to work from home. We are carefully monitoring the situation and focused on maintaining connectivity for our customers.”
Tucker said that NorthState’s customer service team and crews are available to assist small businesses that may need network upgrades or additional communication services because of the need for greater connectivity.
